Shamima Begum cannot return to UK says Supreme Court - BBC News
The UK Supreme Court has ruled that Shamima Begum, who ran away from Britain when she was 15 to join the Islamic State group in Syria, should not be allowed to return, to challenge the removal of her British citizenship. The court ruled unanimously that her rights were not breached when she was refused permission to return. Shamima Begum, who is now 21, is living in a camp in northern Syria. She had hoped to return to the UK to challenge the Home Secretary’s decision to strip her of her British citizenship. She ran away from east London with two other schoolgirls in 2015 and travelled to Syria to join IS. Sophie Raworth presents BBC News at Ten reporting by home affairs correspondent Daniel Sandford.
